A practitioner-researcher bridging the gap between sports science and elite athletic performance. From the BCCI's National Cricket Academy to Surrey CCC's Talent Pathway — evidence-based methodology with a proven track record.
Ganapathi is a former first-class cricketer who competed for Tamil Nadu across multiple age groups — U-19, U-22, U-25 — and the Ranji Trophy for over 25 years. He represented India A, played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, and competed in the TNPL.
Alongside his playing career, Ganapathi pursued an MSc in Applied Strength & Conditioning Science at St Mary's University, Twickenham — one of the UK's leading sports science institutions. That academic foundation, combined with his experience as a player, gave him a unique perspective that very few coaches possess.
He has since worked with every level of the game — from grassroots juniors and school programmes through to club squads, county academies, and national-level athletes. At the BCCI's National Cricket Academy, Surrey CCC's Talent Pathway, and Tamil Nadu State teams, the methodology has always stayed the same: evidence-based, individually tailored, and built around the science.
His research on fast bowling injury prevention was published in the Journal of Applied Sports Coaching — making him one of the few coaches in UK club cricket who is also a published researcher.
